語源
「parallelism」はギリシャ語に由来し、具体的には「parallēlos」という語から来ており、『para-』は「そばに（beside）」、「allēlos」は「互いに（one another）」を意味した。
「parallelism」は後期ラテン語や古フランス語（例：古フランス語 'paralelisme'／中世ラテン語）を経て中英語の 'parallelisme' として英語に入り、最終的に現代英語の 'parallelism' になった。
