語源
「anhemolytic」はギリシャ語由来で、否定を表す接頭辞『an-（〜でない）』＋『hemo-（血）』＋『lytic（溶かす性質の）』から成る科学語である。
近代の科学英語で、否定接頭辞が『hemolytic/haemolytic（溶血性の）』に結合して成立。『hemolytic/haemolytic』自体は新ラテン語『haemolysis（溶血）』およびその形容詞形に由来する。
当初から「赤血球を溶かさない」という技術的意味で用いられ、現代でも同義で使われている。
