語源
「anuloma」はサンスクリット語に由来し、具体的には「anu」＋「loma」という語の結合から来ている。ここで「anu」は「沿って・従う」を、「loma」は「毛（の流れ）」を意味する。
「anuloma」は古英語や中英語を経ず、近代にサンスクリットからヨーガやアーユルヴェーダ文献を通じて英語に取り入れられ、19～20世紀のヨーガ文献で専門語として採用された。
