語源
「paratactic」はギリシャ語の『parataktikos』に由来し、『para-』は「そばに・横に」を、『taxis』は「配列・秩序」を意味した。
『parataktikos』は後期ラテン語/新ラテン語の形（paratacticus）を経て、文法用語として英語の『paratactic』になった。
当初は「横並びの配列」という一般的な意味だったが、次第に文法・修辞の用法で「従属を伴わない並置（parataxis）を用いること」という専門的意味で使われるようになった。
