語源
「nonmetric」は英語に由来し、否定の接頭辞「non-」（〜でない）と「metric」（語源はギリシャ語 metron「測る」）の結合でできている（ラテン語・フランス語を経由）。
「metric」はギリシャ語 metron（「測る」）→ 後期ラテン語/中世ラテン語 metricus → フランス語 métrique → 英語 metric に変化した。否定の接頭辞「non-」（古フランス語/ラテン語の non）と結びついて 'non-metric' や 'nonmetric' の形が生まれた。
