語源
「anthoidal」はギリシャ語と新ラテン語に由来し、特にギリシャ語の「anthos」（花）と結合要素「-oid」（ギリシャ語の「-oeidēs」に由来し「類似・形」を示す）に由来する。
ギリシャ語の「anthos」は学術的な新ラテン語で「anthodium」（頭状花序）と表記されるようになり、そこから英語の「anthoid」や形容詞の「anthoidal」が派生した。
当初は『頭状花序の形をしていること』を指したが、次第に『花のような』『花頭に関する』というより広い意味で用いられるようになった。
