語源
「supernaturalize」は英語に由来し、形容詞「supernatural」＋動詞化接尾辞「-ize」から作られている。'super-'は「超える」を、'nature'（ラテン語'natura'）は「生まれ・自然の性質」を意味した。
「supernatural」はラテン語'supernaturalis'（'super-'＋'naturalis'）が古仏語'supernaturel'を経て中英語の'supernatural'となり、英語の生産的接尾辞'-ize'（ギリシャ語'-izein'→ラテン語／仏語を経由）を付けて近代英語で'supernaturalize'が形成された。
