語源
「sacralize」は現代英語に由来し、形容詞「sacral」に動詞化接尾辞「-ize」が付いてできた語。『sacral』は最終的にラテン語の'sacer'（『神聖な』）に由来する。
ラテン語'sacer'は（後期ラテン語で）'sacrālis'（『神聖に関する』）を生み、これが古フランス語や中世ラテン語を経て英語の'sacral'となり、さらに英語で'-ize'を付けて動詞'sacralize'が作られた。
