語源
「atticize」はギリシャ語に由来し、具体的には「アッティコス（Attikos）」（「アッティカの、アテネの」の意）という形容詞と、動詞化接尾辞「-ize」（ギリシャ語の「-izein」が後期ラテン語・古フランス語を経て入ったもの）とが結び付いてできた語です。
「Attikos」はラテン語で「Atticus」となり、英語では「Attic」となりました。そこに接尾辞「-ize」が付いて近代英語で「atticize」が形成されました。
