語源
「aporias」は古代ギリシャ語の語『aporia』（ἀπορία）に由来し、接頭辞「a-」は「～なし」を、語根「poros」は「通路・道」を意味した。
『aporia』は古代ギリシャ語から学術ラテン語を経て近代ヨーロッパ諸語に入り、哲学・修辞の文脈で英語に導入され、現代英語では『aporia』（複数形『aporias』）として用いられるようになった。
