語源
「antidictionary」は英語から生じた語で、接頭辞「anti-」と名詞「dictionary」の合成語。「anti-」は（ギリシャ語 ἀντί に由来し）「反対」を意味し、「dictionary」は中世ラテン語 'dictionarium' に由来する「語とその意味を列挙した書」を意味する。
「antidictionary」は近現代英語で 'anti-' と 'dictionary' を結合してできた語である。'dictionary' は中世ラテン語 'dictionarium'（語の書）から古フランス語や中英語の 'dictiounarie' を経て現代英語の 'dictionary' になった。
