語源
「anhedral」はギリシャ語の否定接頭辞『an-（〜がない）』と『hédra（座・基・面）』（-hedron／-hedral を通じて）に由来し、学術ラテン語・英語で形成された語。
「anhedral」は19世紀の結晶学で「自形面を持たない結晶」を表す語として使われ、20世紀には「dihedral（上反角）」との類推から航空分野で「負の（下向きの）翼角」を指す語義が生じた。
当初は「結晶面がない（他形の）」の意で、のちに航空では「下向きの（負の）翼角」の意味も併せ持つようになった。
