語源
「palatability」は英語で、形容詞「palatable」に名詞化接尾辞「-ity」が付いてできた語で、「palatable」は『口（palate）に適した／味がよい』という意味であった。
「palatable」は古フランス語の 'palatable' を経て英語に入り、その語はラテン語の 'palatum'（口蓋、palate）に由来する。英語の名詞「palatability」は後に「palatable」に「-ity」を付けて作られた。
