語源
'libido'はラテン語の語『libido』に由来し、そこでの意味は「欲望、色欲」だった。
『libido』はラテン語から英語に借用され（学術・医学語彙やドイツ語など欧州語を経由）、20世紀初頭にフロイトがドイツ語の『Libido』を用いたことで精神分析用語として広まった。
