語源
「humanise」はラテン語の「humanus」に由来し、「humanus」は「人間の／人間らしい」を意味した。英語には古フランス語／フランス語の「humaniser」などを経て入った。
ラテン語の「humanus」は古フランス語／フランス語の「humain」や動詞「humaniser」に変化し、最終的に現代英語の動詞「humanise」になった。
もともとは「人に関する／人間の」を意味していたが、次第に「より人道的にする」「人間らしくする」という能動的な意味に発展した。
