語源
「gynandria」はニューラテン語を経てギリシャ語の要素に由来し、特に女性を意味する'gynē'と男性を意味する'andr-'（'anēr, andros）'から成る。
『gynandria』はギリシャ語の語幹を組み合わせたニューラテン語として学術語彙に入り、雄と雌の要素が結合した花を表す英語の植物学用語として採用された。
