語源
「foreignization」は英語に由来し、動詞「foreignize」と接尾辞「-ation」から成る。'foreign'は「（自国の外）外側」を意味し、'-ize'は「～にする」を意味する。
『foreign』は古フランス語（forainなど）を経て英語に入り、最終的にはラテン語の 'foris'（外側）に由来する。近代英語で 'foreignize' が「外国化する」を意味するようになり、そこに名詞化の接尾辞 '-ation' がついて 'foreignization' が形成された。
