語源
「classicalize」は英語に由来し、『classical（古典的な）』とギリシャ語起源の接尾辞『-ize（〜にする／〜化する）』から成る。
『classical』はラテン語の『classicus』を経てフランス語『classique』から英語『classical』になり、動詞化の接尾辞『-ize』はギリシャ語『-izein』（ラテン語・フランス語を経由）から取り入れられて『classicalize』が作られた。
当初は『古典的な様式にする』という意味で、現在でもその基本的な意味合いは保たれている。
