語源
『antidromic』はギリシャ語経由の近代ラテン語に由来し、ギリシャ語の『antidromikos』からで、『anti-』は「反対」、『dromos』は「走ること・経路」を意味した。
『antidromikos』は近代ラテン語の『antidromicus』となり、19世紀に医学・科学用語として英語の『antidromic』に入った。
当初は「反対の経路を走る・移動する」という意味で、時間とともにその基本的意味は保たれつつ、特に神経などの逆向き伝導を指す専門語として用いられるようになった。
