「anti-rationalistic」はギリシャ語の接頭辞「anti」（「反〜」）と、ラテン語の『ratio』（「理性」）に由来する「rationalistic」を組み合わせてできた語で、形容詞化する接尾辞「-istic」もギリシャ語・ラテン語を経由している。
