語源
'unpeated'は英語由来で、否定接頭辞の'un-'（古英語 'un-'）と名詞 'peat'（古英語 'pēat'）の結合による。'un-'は「〜でない」を、'peat'は「燃料や土壌としての腐植した植物質」を意味した。
'peat'は古英語の'pēat'に由来し現代英語の'peat'となった。英語の否定接頭辞'un-'が結びつき、'unpeat'、そして形容詞形の'unpeated'が形成され、特にウイスキーや土壌の記述で用いられるようになった。
