語源
『innateness』は形容詞『innate』に名詞化接尾辞『-ness』を付けて英語で作られた語。『innate』はラテン語の『innatus』（『innascor』の過去分詞）に由来し、接頭辞『in-』は『中へ／（強意）』を、語根『natus』は『生まれた』を意味した。
ラテン語の『innatus』は『（内）に生まれた』という意味で、17世紀に英語の形容詞『innate』として入ってきた。その後、状態を表す接尾辞『-ness』が付いて名詞『innateness』が形成された。
