語源
'indexer'は現代英語で名詞'index'（ラテン語'index'に由来）に動作者を表す接尾辞'-er'を付けて作られた語です。
'index'はラテン語の'index'（「しるし・指し示すもの・一覧」を意味）に由来し、中世フランス語や中英語を経て英語に入った後、古英語／西ゲルマン語由来の動作者接尾辞'-er'が付けられて'indexer'ができました。
