「humanocentrism」はギリシャ語の「'anthropos'（人間）」＋「'kentron'（中心）」から成る「anthropocentrism」に倣って英語で形成されました。ラテン語由来の 'human-' を用いる形は比較的新しく、環境倫理や政策の文脈で使われます。
