語源
「homocarpic」はギリシャ語の「homos」と「karpos」から来ており、「homos」は「同じ」、「karpos」は「果実」を意味した。
「homocarpic」は近代ラテン語（学術ラテン語）で接頭辞'homo-'＋語幹'carp-'＋形容詞語尾'-ic'を結合して作られ、19世紀に植物学用語として英語に入った。
元来は「同じ種類の果実を持つ」という意味で、その核心的な意味は保たれているが、「果実が同時に熟する」という意味でも使われるようになった。
