においの歪み・異常
語源
「dysosmia」はギリシャ語に由来し、接頭辞の「dys-」は「悪い・機能不全」を意味し、名詞「osme」は「におい」を意味し、接尾辞「-ia」は状態を表す。
「dysosmia」はギリシャ語要素を組み合わせた近代医療用語であり、古英語や中英語を経て変化したわけではなく、現代医学英語（ラテン語系表記を含む）で成立した用語である。
当初は「においの異常・障害」を意味する語として作られ、現代でも嗅覚の異常を指す医学用語として用いられている（パロスミアやファントスミアを包含する総称として使われることが多い）。
