語源
「directionality」は英語の名詞「direction」と名詞化接尾辞「-ality」（中世ラテン語『-alitas』由来）から生じた。『direction』はラテン語『directio』、さらに『dirigere』（『di-/dis-』は強意・「離れて」の意、'regere'は「導く・統治する」の意）に由来する。
