語源
「avulsion」はラテン語の名詞「avulsio」（動詞「avellere」の過去分詞形「avulsus」に由来）に起源があり、接頭辞の「a-」（=「ab-」、離れて）と「vellere」（引きはがす、ひっぱる）が語根である。
「avulsion」はラテン語の「avulsio」から中世・近代ラテン語や古フランス語の形を経て、科学・医療用語として英語に借用され現在の形になった。
