語源
「architectonics」はニューラテン語／新ラテン語の「『architectonica』」に由来し、『archi-（=「長・上位」）』および『tekton（=「大工・建築者」）』の意を持つ。
もともとギリシャ語『『arkhitektonikos』（ἀρχιτεκτονικός）』からニューラテン語『『architectonica』』に変化し、19世紀頃に英語の『『architectonics』』となった。
当初は『大工・建築者に関すること』を意味したが、次第に『建築や概念体系の原理・構造』を指すように拡張された。
