語源
「aposematic」は現代ラテン語・ギリシャ語由来で、最終的にはギリシャ語の接頭辞「apo-」（〜から離れて）と「sēma」（しるし）が語源です。
「aposematic」は19〜20世紀に科学用語として形成され、『警告のしるし』としての色彩を表すために用いられ、そこから副詞形の「aposematically」が派生しました。
当初は『しるし・標識』を指す語根から派生しましたが、生物学では『警告色』を表す専門用語として発展し、現在では生態学・進化生物学で広く用いられます。
