語源
『antiscian』はギリシャ語の『antiskia（アンティスキア）』に由来し、'anti-'は「反対」、'skia'は「影」を意味した。
『antiscian』はギリシャ語『antiskia』からラテン語系（例えば『antiscion』など）の形式を経て、占星術の専門用語として英語に取り入れられ、『antiscion/antiscian』（複数形『antiscians』）となった。
当初は「反対の影」を文字どおり意味したが、次第に黄道上の対称点を指す占星術用語へと意味が変化した。
