語源
'antimere'はギリシャ語に由来し、'anti-'は「反対／向かい」を、'meros'は「部分」を意味する語根から来ている。
'antimere'はギリシャ語の語根を組み合わせたNew Latin／近代科学英語の語で、解剖学などの専門用語として英語に入り定着した。
当初は解剖学で「反対側の部分」を意味したが、のちに立体化学など他の専門分野でも「鏡像に当たる対応体」を指す用法が見られるようになった。
