「反対され語られた」文書
語源
「antilegomena」はギリシャ語の語『ἀντιλεγόμενα』に由来する。接頭辞『ἀντί（anti-）』は「反対」、語根『λέγειν（legein／légō）』は「話す／言う」を意味する。
『antilegomena』はラテン語（後期ラテン語・中世ラテン語）の形『antilegomena』を経て英語に入り、神学や学術の文脈でギリシャ語複数形を保ったまま用いられた。
当初は文字通り「反対して語られたもの」を指し、特に異論のあった書物を意味したが、次第に聖書正典論などで「論争的・疑わしい文書」を指す専門用語となった。
