語源
「anticorrosive」は接頭辞「anti-」（ギリシャ語の『反対』を意味）と形容詞「corrosive」（ラテン語「corrosivus」, 「corrodere」に由来）から成る合成語である。
「corrosive」はラテン語の「corrodere」（接頭辞cor-と「rodere」『かじる』）に由来し、後にラテン語・古フランス語を経て英語の「corrosive」になった。「anti-」はギリシャ語起源の接頭辞で、科学技術語彙で結合形として英語に入ったため「anticorrosive」のような現代的複合語が生まれた。
