語源
『anteflex』はラテン語の接頭辞『ante-』と動詞『flectere』に由来し、『ante-』は「前、〜の前に」、『flectere』は「曲げる」を意味した。
『anteflex』は後期ラテン語・中世ラテン語の『anteflexus』や新ラテン語の『anteflexio』のような形を経て、解剖学用語として英語に取り入れられ、『anteflexion』や『anteflexed』といった派生形が生じた。
もともとはラテン語で「前方に曲がった」という意味で、現在も基本的な意味は維持されているが、現代では解剖学的な用語として特化して使われることが多い。
