語源
「anhysteretic」は、接頭辞「an-（無、～なし）」と「hysteretic（ヒステリシスの）」から成る科学英語で、語根のギリシャ語「hystérēsis（遅れ、後れ）」に由来する。
「hystérēsis」は新ラテン語を経て英語「hysteresis」となり、形容詞「hysteretic」が英語で形成されたのち、20世紀の科学用語として「anhysteretic」が成立した。
当初は「ヒステリシスがない」という字義的意味だったが、物理学・磁気学で可逆応答や理想的な磁化状態を指す専門的用法として定着した。
