語源
「viviparous」はニューラテン語の「viviparus」に由来し、古典ラテン語の「vivus」（生きている）と「parere」（生む・出す）から成る。
「viviparus」は17世紀初頭に英語に入った。ラテン語の複合語が英語の「viviparous」へと転用された経緯がある。
