語源
「suffragist」は英語で、『suffrage』＋者を表す接尾辞『-ist』から成り、『suffrage』は最終的にラテン語の「suffragium（票・支持）」に由来します。
ラテン語の「suffragium」は古フランス語の「suffrage」を経て中英語の「suffrage」となり、19世紀後半に参政権擁護者を指す名詞「suffragist」が英語で作られました。
