語源
「scorer」は英語に由来し、名詞を作る接尾辞「-er」が付いた語『score』に由来する。『score』は古ノルド語の『skera』（「切る」の意）に由来する。
『scorer』は、中英語の『score』（古ノルド語『skera』からの『切る・刻む』の意）が得点を記録する意味に拡張され、近代英語で動作主を示す接尾辞「-er」が付いて『scorer』（得点する人／記録する人）となった。
元々は「切り傷・切り込み（記録のための刻み）」を意味したが、次第に「得点の記録」を指すようになり、『scorer』は「得点をする人・記録する人」の意味になった。
