語源
「rear-to-front」は現代英語の合成語で、'rear'（後ろ）、'to'（〜へ）、'front'（前）から成る。
「rear」は中英語の 'rere'（後部）に由来し、「front」は古フランス語 'front'、さらにラテン語 'frons'（額）に由来する。接続詞の 'to' は古英語 'tō' に由来し、これらが現代英語で結びついて「rear-to-front」ができた。
