語源
「non-electrolytic」は接頭辞「non-」（「〜でない」）と「electrolytic」から成る複合語で、「electrolytic」は「電気分解」に関する語（ギリシャ語の「ēlektron＝琥珀」「lysis＝分解」由来）に由来する。
「electrolytic」は19世紀に「electrolysis（電気分解）」から派生した形容詞で、そこに否定の接頭辞「non-」が付いて「非電解性」を示す語になった。
