語源
「non-cachectic」は否定接頭辞「non-」（ラテン語由来で英語では「〜でない」を意味）と「cachectic」から成る。後者は医学ラテン語'cachecticus'、さらにギリシャ語'kakhexis'（悪い状態・消耗）に由来する。
「cachectic」は近世ラテン語／医学用語としてギリシャ語'kakhexis'（消耗・不良な状態）から英語に入った。19世紀以降の医学用語として定着し、英語で否定の'non-'が付けられて'non-cachectic'が作られた。
元来はギリシャ語・ラテン語で「悪い状態・消耗」を指したが、医学用語として特に「悪液質（重度の消耗）」を意味するようになった。'non-cachectic'はその消耗がないことを示す。
