神話・伝説的な性質
語源
「mythic」は中世ラテン語／近代ラテン語の「mythicus」から起こり、最終的にはギリシャ語の「mythikos」(「mythos」由来)に由来する。
ギリシャ語の「mythos」は「言葉・物語・話」を意味し、ラテン語の「mythicus」を経て、接尾辞「-ic」を付けた形で英語の形容詞「mythic」になった。
当初は「神話や物語に関する」という意味だったが、時代と共に「伝説的な・壮大な」などの広い意味にも発展した。
