堕落の教義
語源
「lapsarianism」はラテン語の語『lapsus』に由来し、『laps-』は「落ちること・滑ること」を意味します。さらに接尾辞の『-arian』は「…に関する／…する者」を表し、『-ism』は教義や主義を作ります。
中世ラテン語に由来する『lapsus』を基にした語（仮に *lapsarius のような形）が英語に入り、『lapsarian』となり、さらに接尾辞を付けて『lapsarianism』として教義を指す語となりました。
