語源
「isovalue」はギリシャ語と英語の結合に由来する接辞「iso-」はギリシャ語の「isos」（等しい）に由来し、「value」はラテン語の「valere」から古フランス語の「value」を経て英語の「value」になった。
接頭辞「iso-」は「等しい」を意味するギリシャ語『isos』から。『value』はラテン語『valere』（価値がある）から古フランス語『value』を経て中英語・現代英語の『value』へと変化した。複合語は技術用語として（初めは『iso-value』のように）用いられ、のちに『isovalue』と連結されて使われるようになった。
