語源
「eyepiece」は Modern English（近代英語）で 'eye'（目）と 'piece'（部分）が結合した複合語で、19せいきごろに光学機器で観察者の『目』に使う『部分』を指す語として記録されたものです。
『eye』は古英語の『eage』（原ゲルマン語 '*augon' に由来）、『piece』は古仏語の『piece』を経て後期ラテン語の『petia』に由来します。これらの要素が近代英語で結合して『eyepiece』になりました。
