語源
「dealer」は分ける・配ることを意味する古英語・ゲルマン語の語根に由来し、英語で動作主を示す接尾辞「-er」が付いて「配る人・扱う人」を意味するようになった。
古英語の dǣlan（分ける・配る）から中英語の delen のような形を経て、接尾辞 -er をつけて中英語後期に 'dealer' が成立した。
