語源
「concert-pitch」は「concert」と「pitch」の英語合成語。「concert」はイタリア語'concerto'、さらにラテン語'concertare'に由来し、'con-'は「ともに」、'certare'は「争う・努力する」を意味した。「pitch」（音高の意）は古英語の形（中英語）から発展した語で、語根は「先・高さ」を示すゲルマン語系に遡ると考えられる。
