語源
'bando'は英語のスラングに由来し、特に' abandoned (house) '（見捨てられた家）という語句の短縮形に由来する。'abandoned'は「放置された／見捨てられた」を意味した。
'bando'は'african American Vernacular English'の中で'abandoned (house)'の略語として発生し、2000年代〜2010年代のアメリカ南部のヒップホップ／トラップ音楽を通じて広まり、違法活動に使われる廃屋を指すスラングとして定着した。
当初は単に「廃墟化した建物」を指していたが、時間とともに「麻薬取引・製造や非公認の集会に使われる廃屋」を特に指すようになり、この用法が現代の主要な意味となった。
