語源
'axometry'はギリシャ語の要素「ἄξων（軸）」と「μέτρον（測ること）」に由来します。
'axometry'はフランス語の'axonométrie'や新ラテン語の語形成の影響を受けて英語に入った技術用語で、現在の英語形'axometry'は'axonometry'と並んで用いられる短縮形・派生形です。
語根は元々「軸の測定」を意味しましたが、次第に軸に沿った投影による三次元表現（軸測投影法）を指す語になりました。
